Esther’s Frozen Party

It feels like forever ago now, but sometime last school year Lily came home singing a new song, “Frozen Hozen Pozen, Let it Go Just please Just Please.” She’d learned all about a new movie called Frozen from her best friend Tayla. That began many days of the girls playing “Frozen.” I slowly began to piece some of the story together and my first impressions were only of the leggy Va Va Voom character in her ice dress singing about letting go and not caring about something anymore.

Disney movies aren’t first on our list of “Must See,” but I figured this was one I needed to check out. My mom brought the movie up with her on a visit, we all watched it and I have to say, it was ok with me. I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats. (Why do I make obscure references no one but I will get?!) There are a lot of loose ends in the movie plot, but I still had fun watching it. The story is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story The Snow Queen which I appreciated and I also appreciated that the “love story” of this movie is the love between the two main characters, who are sisters, instead of the typical “romantic” love Disney is known for. Plus, I’m a sucker for fjords.

But no one attached herself to this Frozen hub bub more than out little Essie. I knew she would love a Frozen birthday party. So that’s what happened.

And I was so so glad my mom was here to visit us again and was able to turn Esther into “Frozen” AKA Elsa with some old fabric I found and a Cinderella crown.

Now for your listening pleasure and for a taste of what we heard ALL DAY LONG on Thursday, Esther will perform Elsa singing Let It Go.

“Let it doh, let it doh, I don’t kerr anymo’!”

To clarify what Elsa is letting go; Elsa has been told to conceal her magic from everyone. She slips up and has to run away. Now she gonna be throwin’ Ice everywhere and she don’t care who know!

Things Mama wants to remember about Two:

You stopped wearing diapers.
You like to eat almost anything.
How you say “Fungry” instead of “Hungry”
That you’re favorite nursery rhyme is “Tumpy Tumpy sat on a wall.”
That you say “Yes Man” instead of “Yes Maam”, “No Tank You”, “Otay”, “Tovers” (anything that starts with C is a T) and your “Actuallyyyy.”
Your German phase walking around saying “Tschüss” and “Hallo” and die window, die door, die, die, die.
How you always want to be Frozen with a blanket tied around your shoulders and STRAIGHT in the back.
How sensitive you are and particular about every little detail and how upset you get if one thing is out of place, leading me to wonder if this obsession will continue as you grow older.
You still are very good at playing by yourself just as you always have been.
You love your baby doll, princesses, dancing, dressing up, coloring and reading books.
You like playing with the big girls, but your best friend is Gerhardt (Bo Bo) and you just can’t seem to get along with Ephraim.

Ten Months Old

September 9th, 2014 by Aubri

IMG_1079Little Mercy turned 10 months old on Friday. During month #9 she started getting 3 more teeth, bringing her new total to 6. She mastered the army crawl and began to sit up on her own. It’s only table food for her and she loves to eat. Last month she got noisier, learned to say Da Da Da on repeat and I think she’s about to take off on a real crawl any day.

Links For Life

September 5th, 2014 by Aubri

The_First_Steps_LifeLinks

I understand the term “Pro-Life” to mean more than just being against abortion. For me that part is easy. But being truly “pro-life” isn’t always easy or true of any of us. For some being pro-life can require great heroism or great sacrifice. Or it can be as simple (or hard) as constantly wiping noses or wiping rears or cooking 3 meals a day for little mouths.

I think we need to be reminded that even Christians can contribute to the “Culture of Death” we live in by our deeds and careless words to others. Comments of disappointment over another baby boy instead of a girl, a look of “you must be crazy” to one announcing another pregnancy, rude looks to parents in a noisy pew at church. If we truly love and value Life as we like to say we do, this sort of talk and behavior really undermines those beliefs. Let us be mindful of that.

Anyway, sometimes I come across a good Pro-Life post or article that should be shared. So here you go, here’s to spreading the message that “all Life is good,” one Link at a time.

Remember: Add 9 Months “Remember: When you’re going to speak about children’s lives, add 9 months. We’ve been taught by our culture to only talk about post-birth children as persons. But they have been a person – fully human – for (usually) 9 months prior.”

Why Children Are Awesome “My kids take my time, they steal my showers, they wreck my prized possessions, they wake me in the middle of the night, they just need need need.  It is in my nature to just choose me, but here I can’t. They make me be just a wee bit less selfish every single day.”

One. Twice.  “In so many ways, this last year was the most challenging in my life. The first three months stretched me beyond what I thought was possible. It was just so. hard. The boys screamed constantly- every minute they were awake. It was so, so hard. I don’t really want to forget just how hard, because that’s part of the story too. If there is one thing they do without fail, every single day, with every single breath they take, it’s that they point to the marvel of their Creator, and they help me to see that we never know what’s right around the bend. God’s plans are always, always, always better than our own. And these little boys? They prove it every single day.”
