June 16: Clara turns 12! We started the day as we always do with Birthday Pancakes for the birthday baby. The kids have been attending Music Camp at church all day each day this week, so that was a lot of fun. For supper her Daddy smoked a brisket for her and we enjoyed what we rarely are able to do, have a birthday party on an actual birthday!
When thinking of a theme for her party I was falling short of ideas. But it occurred to me how much she still always loves to paint. Recently she’s been enjoying watercolors and painting birds so….a Watercolor Birds party it was! In the decor, I featured some of the birds she had painted a couple months ago (not the framed bird, that’s another artist’s work.)
Clara is not a fan of regular cake especially with frosting on it. So she requested an ice cream cake. I thought sherbet would be fun with the different colors I could use. But I forgot how tricky ice cream cakes are for me! Trickier is when you can’t hide the weird flaws with whipped cream (another food Clara has a distaste for.) Oh well, it was delicious and so refreshing on a such a hot June evening!
Watercolor water.
Happy Birthday Clara! We love you!
Happy Birthday, Clara. God’s blessings to you!
Happy Birthday Clara!
I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
