April 23: We were blessed to host Rev. David Preus and family this evening while they visit from the Dominican Republic. They were in Omaha 2 years ago briefly and I was able to meet them for the first time, but our babies were all in school at the time so they missed out. This visit we were so happy they could stay longer.

All Hallow’een

October 30: Another HallOWeen for the books. 🎃 For costumes this year the kids scrounged through our dress up clothes, old Halloween costumes or designed their own from items at home. With the Pandemic I just didn’t know how Trick Or Treating was going to go this year and Phil would be preaching on Halloween night so wouldn’t be able to help take the kids around anyway.

With all that, I was not going to spend a lot of time and money in costumes. But I was so proud of what the babies came up with. I helped by adding a few little accessories. It was fun!

Seeing Sights

August 10: We wanted to have the chance to show our cousins around Omaha a little bit before they headed back to Texas. The morning we had planned to go out it seemed we might have to cancel the days activities when we were quite unexpectedly hit with a small part of a derecho.

The wind storm came out of no where while we were eating breakfast. Living in Nebraska we’re used to wind, high wind, but this was unlike anything I’d ever seen. It was suddenly dark outside, then that wind! It was crazy. When I realized Phil had gone out for a bike ride and taken Abel and Ephraim with him I was really worried. Thankfully a few minutes after it hit we saw him come riding as hard as he could against the wind toward the house, Ephraim running ahead of him. I was thankful he’d taken the bike and bike trailer and not gone out running with the stroller, I don’t think he could have gotten that thing home.

The storm only lasted 10-15 minutes then it let up. The sun came back out so we decided we’d attempt our outing after all.
