All Hallow’een

October 30: Another HallOWeen for the books. 🎃 For costumes this year the kids scrounged through our dress up clothes, old Halloween costumes or designed their own from items at home. With the Pandemic I just didn’t know how Trick Or Treating was going to go this year and Phil would be preaching on Halloween night so wouldn’t be able to help take the kids around anyway.

With all that, I was not going to spend a lot of time and money in costumes. But I was so proud of what the babies came up with. I helped by adding a few little accessories. It was fun!

Reformation Sunday

October 25: Reformation Sunday. All month in October we spend some time reading about Martin Luther and the Reformation. It’s always such a festive day. This year due to the pandemic we didn’t hold a Hymn Sing with church members in our home as we have in past years. It was much more subdued this time. We sang a few as a family. Esther, as our 3rd grader this year, received a cover for her new Bible, I made our annual big German meal with Schnitzel, Karottensalat and Spätzle and Lily made Triple Chocolate Pumpkin Bundt cake…it was amazing.

Back to School Take Two

October 5: First Day of School take two! They all went back today for the first time since March. Still not full time but will be using the “3/2 Plan” with some days full time at school and some full time at home doing virtual learning. It’s a whole new can of weirdie worms we’re opening.

Waiting for Baby

End of April: What we do while we wait for baby to come. Grandma came to stay the week before to help out with all the things. Thankfully she was also happy to work with the babies on their math otherwise the 4 youngest did absolutely no schooling. I had no energy to plan, organize and oversee their distance learning. The big girls were able to keep theirs going though. Hopefully this Summer we can beef up a bit on some “school work” before we get back to school…we’ll see.
