This Summer our congregation called a young man to fill the role of Kantor for our church. He accepted that call and since then I have enjoyed getting to know his lovely wife. They are awaiting the birth of their 3rd child due this month so another kind lady in our congregation and I put together a diaper shower for them. We had fun with the Wintery inspiration of a Winter baby shower. We kept it simple with a delicious hot chocolate bar and some snacks.

Our Church Christmas Program

Tuesday, December 25th, 2018

2018-12-15 16.34.19

On December 15th the children of our church held their Christmas program, “The Trees of Christmas.” This year our 4 bigs had readings and Esther played in the hand bell sextet. I was hoping Martha would participate as she had done well in all of the rehearsals but last minute she decided it was too much for her.

I still can’t get over how quickly my 3 bigs have become the “big kids” in these programs. How it was not long ago they were the tinies up front or the ones cowering in the pew with Mama…Gerhardt. They’ve grown so much!

Reformation Sunday – Hymn Sing

On Sunday October 28th we held our second annual Reformation Sunday Hymn Sing. It was a good time last year  we thought we’d try it again. This is a fun way for us to celebrate our Lutheran heritage and sing some of the wonderful historical hymnody we enjoy in our Lutheran church. A thanks to everyone who was willing to show up and sing around our living room!

Today we also presented a My First Catechism to Gerhardt per our tradition at his age. He’s so proud of himself for how much of it he’s read so far.

On December 16th our church held it’s Children’s Christmas Service. Songs, readings, shepherds and angels.

This year Lily had a couple reading parts and both big girls played the piano for the prelude entertainment along with many of the other children in our church. We have a lot of musical talent in our congregation!
