Remember when the only thing I wrote about here was Lily?! I guess that’s how it goes with your first. I’ve loved watching how much she’s changed and how much she’s stayed the same! But sometimes I really really miss that little baby Lily. Just to have her small once more, to curl up with her on the couch and take a long nap together. I miss that.
I’d hate to let the days and years slip by without jotting down some of the things that delight me about our girl. And surely those years will go by quickly.
Lily often get frustrated that she can’t draw as well as Clara or do something else that she can, comparing herself to others as we all do. I have to explain again and again how we each have our own talents and gifts. I tell her she has a wonderful imagination, she can sing and dance, she’s helpful, she learns things quickly and one of her favorite gifts, she has an amazing memory!
One of the fun things about being around children for a long time is watching their own little personalities emerge. It happens early and just continues as they grow. I’m seeing my Lily become such a cheerful, chipper little thing. She certainly can turn on the drama and still likes watching herself cry in the bathroom mirror, but she also has such a gift of turning hers and everyone’s lemons into lemonade. She has the knack for confronting something that has gone wrong and spinning her outlook in a different direction.
She’s spunky for sure and oh she can sass! As an intense “people watcher” she picks up traits from others very easily. She can sometimes act much older than her little 6 years. I can already get glimpses of her in her teens, the years she’s so eager for so she can finally “drink pop and wear high heals!” Which we’ve told her she has to be 18 before she can do!
She’s always had an eye for glamour! Such a little princess. She’s very attentive to what she wears and has so much fun putting an outfit together. She’ll waltz into the kitchen so proud of what she’s wearing, excited to show me. It makes me laugh and I have to explain to her that I laugh because she gives me joy, not because I’m making fun of her. She’s a sensitive one. She can be very timid often relying on her sister to boost her confidence.
My babies often make me laugh, they surprise me over and over again with that particular joy a parent gets from their children, the kind that can’t help but come out in laughter.
If she doesn’t have babies when she grows up (or until she does) she will be coming to our house with her dog and cat. We kindly told her that she can come but she’ll be leaving her dog and cat outside, especially the cat.
She can’t wait to start cooking for us. She’s learned to make Mac-N-Cheese and is always asking what she can learn to make next. So eager to help (sometimes)!
She’s a stickler for rules, loves school, loves reading and I love listening to her. It’s like magic when all of a sudden your babies are reading and writing. I’ve been so proud of how well she’s doing at school this year.
She’s definitely “the oldest”. Bossin’, Remindin’, keeping everyone else on task often to forget her own!
But she’s still our baby!
We love you sweet beautiful girl!
Oh, that is adorable, Aubri. She comes from good stock, that one.
I love when we get a chance to focus on just one. The first holds a special place.
Love this, so precious!
