A Bundle of Myrrh

Save Now

“See how Christ the king abandons possessions, body and life. Learn from this that his kingdom is not of this world. To enjoy the Christian faith here on earth does not mean to have all things in abundance and lack nothing. Look at your king, the Lord Jesus. Of what does he boast? What comfort has he in life? How highly is he praised?

He has nothing but suffering, scorn, and disdain, and he dies in shame. One little thing he has with which to rule. It is his testimony to the truth, the holy gospel. Through this he pours the Holy Spirit into our hearts, forgives sin and bestows the hope of eternal life.

But all these things remain in faith and in the Word. They are not see, nor are they handled. They exist in hope.

All those who know the way of this king and his kingdom willingly bear the cross. For they not only know that Christ, the eternal king, fared in the same way and is thus himself willing and ready to suffer, but they also take comfort in the knowledge that life in the eternal kingdom is full of joy and splendor, even though suffering must be endured on earth.

That makes Christians joyful even in the midst of sorrows and trials.”

Fertility in a Fallen World: Marie’s Story

April 9th, 2014 by Aubri

motherchildteasdale_blog

A few weeks ago I asked if anyone would be willing to discuss a topic that isn’t easy and share the story of their fertility journey. (You can read my story HERE.) I’m grateful to the women who chose to respond.

In this series women with different experiences will share the pain and blessings that the gift of fertility carries with it, in the hope of bringing out God’s grace and promise to those couples struggling to welcome this gift when it is not known how it will turn out in a sinful world.

This is Marie’s story.

I am the second of two children, the only daughter. As a child, I begged my mom to have more children. (I had no idea the strain it might have put on her or her marriage, as I now believe she wanted to have more children, but my father did not, and my mom also had some mental illness.) Growing up, I always wanted to have a “large” family, but never really considered what that meant. I dreamed of marrying a pastor, and being a stay-at-home mom while teaching full-time at the Christian Day School. I’m not sure I ever realized it wasn’t possible! Maybe it was the “women can have it all” culture talking!

Convalescing Mercy

April 8th, 2014 by Aubri

Just wanted to let you all know that our little Mercy was able to come home yesterday! She seems to be getting right back to her happy self. This afternoon she took in some fresh air from the back porch and the excitement of watching her big brother ride his tricycle.

Thank you all again for praying for our sweet baby and all the kind comments. We should get test results later this week, maybe it will show what this virus was. But really at this point it looks like it’s behind us thankfully whether we know what it was or not.
