“And when he had said these things,
as they were looking, he was taken up;
and a cloud received him out of their sight.”

Last Thursday we celebrated the Ascension of Christ, very simply with a reading from Acts 1 and an ice cream Mount of Olives topped with a whipped cream cloud.

“You men of Galilee, why do you stand and look at Heaven?
This Jesus, who has been taken from you to Heaven,
will return, just as you have seen Him ascend to Heaven.”

“Ah yes! Then come back soon;
remove at last my sorrowful bearing,
otherwise every moment
shall be hateful to me and all the years alike.”

    Upon first reading, I thought you served the kids some ice cream on a mountain of olives. Now THAT would be something.

    Great way to celebrate the holy day!

    I wouldn’t put it past a pregnant mama to serve ice cream on olives but notice I said “simple!” What a fight that would have been to get anyone to eat such a treat! 😀

  3. Carrie H says:

    Sometimes simple is best. I doubt there was any complaining about reading and eating ice cream 🙂
