On December 13th the Church remembers St. Lucy or St. Lucia. And here again is another saint with many legends and little facts. But she’s still fun and due to the nature of her traditions I think she’s a good saint to use to teach truths to the babies.

This year the girls were excited to get up early to make breakfast for all the kids. Clara made eggs, Lily prepared the candles and hot apple cider. The children gathered.

We read: John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

We pray: “You have received Christ who is the Light of the world. Live always in the light of Christ, and be ever watchful for His coming, that you may meet Him with joy and enter with Him into the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which shall have no end.”

We were served: Lily proclaiming “JESUS OUR TRUE LIGHT HAS COME INTO THE WORLD” as she presented cinnamon bread to each baby and the response was given “ALLELUIA! AMEN!”

We (didn’t) sing: The Night Will Soon Be Ending because it was getting a little crazy at this point.

Here is a good sermon for St. Lucia day.

Did she cook the eggs all by herself? Well done!

It is amazing to see how they have grown through the years to this level of participation in the celebration! They are quite the young ladies now!
