Saturday we were feeling like getting out of the house and thought it would be fitting for anĀ Independence Day weekend festivity to visit Fort Atkinson over in Fort Calhoun.

I was so excited that they have “Living History” demonstrations here every other weekend. Now that the babies are getting older I love for them to have these sorts of experiences.

There’s really a lot to see while your here, we got hot and tired and hungry so we couldn’t see it all. I’m glad we’ll have a reason to go back.

What a wonderful family outing! I’m glad y’all have so many options for learning now!

What a neat place. I’d like to go visit myself, would be quite a drive though. Always makes me feel so lazy when I think about all the modern conveniences I have available (washing machine, dishwasher, butter I can buy at the store…) and still can’t get all my housework done.

It was a really nice place. There was a store there I have to get back to.

Carrie, it’s true, we are so spoiled! It’s something I think about often. I do think that we have so many different pulls on our energy and time than the women of that day would never have imagined. Like having to run find my phone when Josephine does something cute so I can take a video. 5 minutes of my life gone, 5 minutes I should have been making a quilt, but way worth it! šŸ˜€

And I’m sure those pioneer women would have loved to get a video of their precious grandchildren doing anything!
