The blessed relief of Fall is finally here! Y’all know how much I love me some Fall. The heat of Summer is gone for good…I think. We have our cool mornings and evenings back. The jackets are out, I’m digging out pants and long sleeved shirts, gathering the flipflops to soon be put away and adding all the glorious colors of Autumn to the house.
On the first day of Fall we had a Fall breakfast, Gingerbread Blueberry muffins, and a Fall Supper Party. I got out the fall trays that we will eat on for a couple months and we had a “Fall Supper.” The kids got creative with the menu: Macaroni “Hay,” Potato “Leaves,” and I’m completely blanking on what the chicken patties were called, but you get the idea.
Our Fall dessert was one humbling lesson after another. In the end I was just happy I had red frosting on hand and some Fall sprinkles. The babies loved it though and that is always all that matters.
I’m so thankful for the boost in mirth and merriment that this season in particular seems to bring me. A cheerfulness in the cooler days, the beautiful colors, the harvest and the expectancy (but not the stresses) of the seasons that come next.
Hmm, and this could be the first Fall in the past 8 years that I haven’t been pregnant. There’s a slight possibility that I might actually get some baking done and enjoy getting outside this year. Weird.
You didn’t have to share that big cookie, did you? You deserve one — just for you.
I’m definitely with you on the cheer and merriment. I like summer too but something about the cooler mornings and evenings and open windows just makes me feel fresh and renewed.
Love seeing all the littles around (and on) that table! Your entry vignette is very pretty! 😉
