Good-Bye to Our First Parsonage

After we dropped off all our junk at the rental in Omaha Phil and I returned to Bancroft to clean the parsonage there and say a final good-bye. The rooms shined and felt so big and echoed with emptiness after being so full for 8 years.

I did one last walk through each room remembering and letting myself leave. The walls needed a good washing but first I had to save a memory of the last known location of Lily and Clara’s bed.

I think I have pictures of the house looking like this 8 years ago when phootloose and phancy phree Phil lived here all alone. Oh how much we did not know back then!

And I had to capture the counter looking clean and clear like it never ever did while we were here.

We finished up, turned off all the lights and closed the door one last time. We drove away and wondered who would live in this house next. May they have as full and blessed of a life within these walls as we did.

  1. Endings are so hard sometimes.

John just finished Internship (Vicarage) and he spent some time just sitting all by himself in the Sanctuary before he left.

Time to say “see you later”, rather than “good bye” as my Grandfather always said. We’ll see them all again! 🙂

I think that the parsonage misses you already. It looks so sad and empty. However, there will be opportunities for more blessings in this house, and for that, we thank God.
