Master Bedroom Reveal…ish.

Tuesday, March 5th, 2013

For three years I’ve wanted to pretty up our bedroom and turn it into the retreat I need at the end of a long day. But if you know me you know how overwhelming such a thing can be, fun, but overwhelming. I’m not very good, ok, I can be terrible at making up my mind (never go shoe shopping with me!).

First I had to find some curtains and decide if I was going to go “modern” or “classic”. I stuck to a “grown up lady” look and a year later (!) found these curtains online. Gray and mustard, I was in love! I was in even more love after they went on sale. They’re on sale again now!

Toddlers and Chores

Monday, August 15th, 2011

I’ve been trying to make sure I give the girls something to do while I’m cleaning. That something to do being some cleaning of their own. Here are some of the “toddler friendly chores” I have come across that I’ve already began teaching them or will soon.

Helping to Keep the House Clean:

Swiffer the floor (leaving off the top handle to make it toddler size), sort laundry into piles (socks, shirts, etc), sort groceries to put away, dusting, mopping, putting away shoes and dirty clothes in hamper, using a spray bottle of vinegar to clean windows and coffee table, picking up their toys.

Helping In the Kitchen:

I’m not as quick to let them help me in the kitchen, but as they get a bit older I want to incorporate their “help” a little more. Here are some things I think they will be able to handle.

Greasing a baking sheet, stirring batter, spreading mayonnaise or mustard on a sandwich with a plastic knife, sprinkling cheese on top of pasta or tacos, shredding lettuce, setting AND clearing the table.

It’s never too early to start giving your babies household responsibilities!

This little guy will be quite the catch someday!

Since my days of bending over are close to an end, the clutter and toy mess in our living room has gotten b.a.d and driven me crazy enough to finally get the energy to do something about it. I’ve had the mind to get some bins for toys for a while now and we haven’t done it but today on the verge of trashing everything I decided to work with what I had on hand, get some ideas off the good ole internet and just organize already!

This drives me nuts. I’m done standing up the books in nice attractive rows, this aint the library. And you see where my constant effort gets me anyway right? A mess. I realized toddlers aren’t really into book spines, they need the bigger picture. So I wised up and put the books in bins instead of silly rows.
