At The Parsonage

This week it feels like everyone is just trying to make it through the long hot days. We had some water leaking into the girls room in the basement and Phil found out, by digging around, that there was not enough dirt around the foundation to keep this from happening so he’s spent several afternoons outside adding and packing dirt around the walls.

Gerhardt was eager to help his daddy. They worked tirelessly side by side, Phil packing the dirt, Gerhardt eating it.

The Birthday Fairy

In July the Birthday Fairy visits my family in a major way, my extended family I should say. I loose track of how many of us have July birthdays but the ones I do know are MINE, my two OLDER brothers, my cousin (Uncle Weslie), a good friend and I was of course obligated to birth at least one of my babies during this month, so Lily who will be three on the 28th (!). Monday was my birthday.

At The Parsonage

These lillies grow on the side of our house. The side I’m never on so I don’t ever get to enjoy them. I decided to start cutting them and bringing them inside so I can actually see them. I’m amazed how all the flowers in our yard (that we did not plant) continue to grow back beautifully year after year without any help on our part. It’s nice of them to give the allusion that we do some actual yard work (besides mowing, thank you husband!).

Well, I say “beautifully” but they’re starting to look a little lack luster after the heat we’ve had this week.

Merry Maids

More and more I’m introducing some ways the girls can help around the house. They  love doing what I do; folding, dishes, sweeping, moping, you know all those glamorous tasks. So while they still think it’s fun I try to take advantage and instill in them some of the valuable qualities we want them to have; helpfulness, responsibility, cleanliness…well the qualities we want them to have someday at least.
