At the Parsonage – The Month of April

Sunday, May 6th, 2012

April flew by didn’t it? I figured I better get some of the cuteness that happened around here out before we get too much May cuteness.

Holy Week At The Parsonage

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

It’s late, it’s Holy Saturday and I’ve got to get to bed so I can get up for our sunrise service tomorrow, but I thought I’d better jot down some of what we did during Holy Week before Holy Week is over and before I forget what we did this year.

I attempted Resurrection Eggs (see HERE too) this year. We didn’t open them everyday as your supposed to do because I’d forget.  But Lily would remember some days and we’d open one…only one…not all of them …every time. This was hard for Clara and Gerhardt to understand and after a couple melt downs we no longer got to look at all of them before we opened the one for that day. This was fun for them and is something they’ll enjoy as they get older and can begin to better grasp all of the symbols we use.

At The Parsonage

Forgive me for another catch up post. Here’s what we’ve been up to the past couple weeks.

Getting outside a lot this Spring. It’s hard to believe Spring is here and we made it through Winter so easily.

With the little snow we did get some months ago we always end up with tons of rocks in the yard. Our yard is a dumping ground for the snow that is plowed out of the parking areas for church. With that comes the gravel.

At The Parsonage

Well, here’s a big fat catch up post! But first I thought I’d share what I read this morning, a little Lenten catechesis for us.

From The Large Catechism III 88-89

“And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

“It is not as though God did not forgive sin without and even before our prayer. He has given us the Gospel , in which is pure forgiveness before we prayed or ever thought about it (Romans 5:8) But the purpose of this prayer is that we may recognize and receive such forgiveness…We sin daily in word and deed, by what we do and fail to do (James 2:15-16). By this the conscience is thrown into unrest, so that it is afraid of God’s wrath and displeasure. So it loses the comfort and confidence derived from the Gospel. Therefore, it is always necessary that we run here and receive consolation to comfort the conscience again.”
