Mystery of History – Quarter Two Party

A few weeks ago we finally finished up the “Second Quarter” section of our Mystery of History Ancient History lessons. I kind of feel of the Weekend Lessons wagon through the Fall. We were busy or sick so much of the time. But we got through it and had a good time putting together our little party.

Homelife has a goodness and beauty that we all need. It brings me joy to create a pleasing space to live in and finding loveliness in the everyday. Winter especially makes me crave the time to create warmth, coziness, Hygge, or Gemütlichkeit (whatever you want to call it) in our home.

Making Home is it’s own wonderful art.

Readjusting

Our tree skirt was reminding me to PACE myself. “Pace on Earth” and in the parsonage. The Season of Christmas is behind us and it’s time to slowly undecorate our house. According to some sources, officially you can leave Christmas decorations up until February 2nd, The Purification of Mary. I take full advantage of that most years not having the energy, time or desire to remove Christmas items from our walls and shelves.

We do take down our tree before January 9th however due to the deadline our city gives us to dispose of trees for us free of charge. So Gerhardt and I took care of our tree together. It’s always sad to me how long it takes to decorate but how quickly everything comes right off.

Of Hearth and Home – For Our Spirits

For Our Spirits:

It’s good to try to have fun together as a family too right? It’s good, but in our case it is not easy. This is still a difficult phase of family life, with mostly littles. But we try. I would love to have game time be a regular part of our life together eventually. I imagine how fun it could be someday to sit around and play board games or cards together….without someone crying or having to get a spank. We’ve made some attempts. It is getting better. But “better” doesn’t mean much yet.
