Of Hearth and Home – The Art of Home

Homelife has a goodness and beauty that we all need. It brings me joy to create a pleasing space to live in and finding loveliness in the everyday. Winter especially makes me crave the time to create warmth, coziness, Hygge, or Gemütlichkeit (whatever you want to call it) in our home.

Making Home is it’s own wonderful art.

“By creating simple rituals without effort {such as brewing real tea with a little china cup every evening to stopping at the flower shop every week} the Danes see both the domestic and personal life as an art form and not every drudgery to get away from.” source

And so I remember, here are some snaps of the everyday beauty I’m surrounded by lately:

Creating warmth in the home this month:

1. Keeping blankets stored for snuggling on the couch.
2. Stock and keep slippers by the door.
3. Twinkle lights in the windows.
4. Lamplight and more candls for suppers.
5. Bake more scones for Lily.
6. READ more books.

Love seeing kids quietly reading. And Martha.

    Advice I need. Thank you.

It all looks so quiet and peaceful… 🙂

  4. What lovely photos!

I love seeing the children reading – and playing! So many children don’t know anything but electronics today. I actually had a librarian chase me out of the library one day a couple of years back to thank me for raising readers. Made her day and mine too! 🙂

And there’s nothing so cozy as a line of candles down the middle of the table. Just beautiful!

    Thanks so much for sharing,
    Lea

I love this! Everything looks very warm and cozy. I’m the same way with winter, loving those little rituals like lighting candles, and keeping hot chocolate on hand.
