All Things Father
Sunday, June 21st, 2015
The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:6-7
Today we say Happy Father’s Day to the fathers in our lives and thank God for them. I’m very blessed and proud that God gave Phil to me and to our children.
“Now you tell me, when a father goes ahead and washes diapers or performs some other mean task for his child, and someone ridicules him as an effeminate fool, though that father is acting in the spirit just described and in Christian faith, my dear fellow you tell me, which of the two is most keenly ridiculing the other? God, with all his angels and creatures, is smiling, not because that father is washing diapers, but because he is doing so in Christian faith. Those who sneer at him and see only the task but not the faith are ridiculing God with all his creatures, as the biggest fool on earth. Indeed, they are only ridiculing themselves; with all their cleverness they are nothing but devil’s fools. ” Martin Luther
Since I don’t have one of those cool widgets under each post like some blogs do, “If you like this post you’ll LOVE these posts” kind of a thing, but here are the related posts I like to remember for today:
A Good Daddy
Your Daddy The Hero
I also wanted to honor two other important fathers today, mine and Phil’s. And since it’s just too fun, I made a slideshow. I know you all just rolled your eyes, so you’re welcome.
(And I do apologize to Phil and his dad for my choice in music. It’s not at all appropriate for pictures of the two of you, but for me and my dad, it’s a special song since, well, he named me after it.)

Going On An Egg Hunt
Tuesday, April 7th, 2015
Another Easter post? Yes. My babies love the fact that it will be Easter for 50 days, so an Easter post is still entirely appropriate right?
It’s just me I know, but I really don’t like doing Easter egg hunts before Easter. So Meany Mama that I am, we don’t take the babies to our community hunts that take place prior to Sunday. That means we just have to do one in our own. In our yard.
But since we got to attend church with our other congregation this year we did have a more “official hunt” out there with them and then, nice Grandma brought and hid tons of eggs for the babies around the house. Two hunts this year. We all kinds of Easter Candied y’all.
St. Patrick’s Day – At The Parsonage
Thursday, March 19th, 2015
For the Commemoration of St. Patrick:
Morning Rainbow Snack for Ephraim
After school party – Coloring pages and an easy Trinity Craft, popcorn and green candy
Supper – Irish Skillet without cabbage (not pretty but the babies had 3rds?! What?) and Soda Bread
Dessert- Shamrock Cake
We all know about St. Patrick, as much as there is to know. But reading the entry on him today in Treasury of Daily Prayer one line stood out.
“He strongly defended the doctrine of the Holy Trinity when it was not popular to do so.”
This made me consider how unpopular many (all) of the doctrines of the Church are becoming and how hard it is getting to stand and defend them in our day. Patrick faced a hate from those who would seek to kill him. We haven’t gotten there yet, but we face hate don’t we? I know our pastors do.
We ask God for boldness, clarity and strength. We pray for our pastors who weekly stand in their pulpits and preach a despised message for sinners. And we pray for the Church’s missionaries who leave home to take God’s Word to unfamiliar places.
