We’re finally rid of our nasty kitchen sink faucet. It leaked and was impossible to clean. Phil put in our new faucet last night.

County Fair Time

August 18th, 2010 by Aubri

I can hardly believe it’s been a year since our last county fair! We took the whole family this time. With exception of the roosters Lily had fun seeing the award winning animals this year.

Last year…not so much fun.

The Fatherhood of God in an Age of Emancipation

August 14th, 2010 by Phil

Here is a sermon on Hebrews 12:4-11.

There is a book in my library entitled The Fatherhood of God in an Age of Emancipation, by W. A. Visser ‘t Hooft (Westminster Press, 1982).  It is a fascinating study on how society has moved away from any form of authority.  It highlights how we live in a different world than when the Bible was written.

For example, we don’t have kings with unlimited authority.  Governments are often told what to do by citizens, rather than the other way around.  Slavery, which was common in biblical times, is now unthinkable.  To say the husband is head of the wife, might be called slavery and abuse today.  People claim to be free to chose their sex instead of having it chosen for them.  We have even been freed from absolute morals, we are told.  What do all these have in common?  They are all part of the process of emancipation—the freeing from a higher authority.

Nesting

August 7th, 2010 by Aubri

I was so tired of all the hodge podge of ‘tupperware’ I have. Most of it I hadn’t used in over a year so it had to go. And I hate the way it’s all stacked and falling over in this cabinet so I decided to get rid of the junk and put the rest in the pantry using a basket to store lids. Now snacks and baking supplies have a tidy new home I can get to a lot quicker.

The rest of the pantry will have to wait.

It’s definitely time to get rid of some of the cooking magazines I’ve had sitting around for a few years. I started removing all the recipes I’ll want to keep in a separate notebook once I get one, then I’ll send the magazines on to my neighbor.

All I can say is that if I could bend over, had more energy and didn’t risk going into labor (ok, labor at this point wouldn’t be the worst thing!) I would have one clean and organized house right now!
