The Blessing of Good Friends

August 9th, 2011 by Aubri

Above is a picture of what I found when I opened a cabinet to get a plate. I got a big smile on my face. I never put glasses and mugs in this cabinet, but I was so happy to have had the help that put all these glasses and mugs in this cabinet.

Today my neighbor (and good friend) Leanna came over to “run the broom around a bit” for me. The girls were gone for the day and she thought she could get some cleaning done around MY house. In a few hours she and her grand-daughter managed to do a weeks worth of housework for me! Sweeping the kitchen, front and back porches, vacuuming, mopping, running laundry and dishes, folding laundry and putting it away and helping me sort some clothes for new baby.

She said “how bout we do this once a week or so?”. I said “yes, good, okay, uh-huh!”

She plans on helping me through these next weeks of waiting; waiting for reinforcements, “The Moms”, to arrive, waiting to be delivered, waiting to be tired in a new way.

Phil and I have been so blessed with our neighbor friends. They have helped us over and over again in big ways, little ways, in whatever ways they can. They consider us family and I think I can speak for both of us, that we consider them the same. And living so far from our actual family, this is a wonderful feeling and gift to have. I really don’t know what we’d do without them.

God truly does give us our daily bread as we pray in the prayer He taught us.

The Fourth Petition
Give us this day our daily bread

What does this mean?
God certainly gives daily bread to everyone without our prayers, even to all evil
people, but we pray in this petition that God would lead us to realize this and to
receive our daily bread with thanksgiving.

What is meant by daily bread?
Daily bread includes everything that has to do with the support and needs of the
body
, such as food, drink, clothing, shoes, house, home, land, animals, money,
goods, a devout husband or wife, devout children, devout workers, devout and
faithful rulers, good government, good weather, peace, health, self control, good
reputation, good friends, faithful neighbors, and the like.

OH, how wonderful for you, Aubri! Isn’t it nice to know that there are the loving, caring, giving types who step in and say, “Let me befriend you, and here’s how I’d like to do it.” I’m especially thankful for those women who have become “grandma” when ours live so far away.

    What a blessing she is!

Wow! What a blessing indeed!!! I have always thanked God for the blessing of these special neighbors(family) in your life. I still remember how sweet they were to have you stay with them before you and Phil married! How much richer your family is having them in your lives!

Indeed! They’ve been right along with us through this whole journey haven’t they!
