Happy Camper – Verdon and Indian Cave State Park Part I

In October the babies were out of school for a couple of days so we made one last trip for the season in our camper. This time we ventured a couple hours away from home to the Southeast corner of Nebraska to check out Indian Cave State Park. We weren’t sure how booked it would be with other campers so instead of parking our home away from home in the State park we found a free smaller recreation area, Verdon Park, about 20 minutes from there to stay a couple nights.

We were the only ones here and that was lovely! We, or I should say Phil, learned a lot about hauling a trailer through muddy terrain and dodging low hanging branches. That was not so lovely.

On the first night we set up, made supper and hunkered down. It was a pretty dreary day. Lily enjoyed the benefits of having our little outdoor kitchen to make her supper cuz Mama was hogging the stove inside.

The next morning was still cold but we were sure the sun would show itself at some point. Even with the clouds it was too beautiful not to soak up. We left our camp site and headed for Indian Cave State Park for the day.

Returning that evening we made our first real deal campfire supper and snacked on popcorn.

Of course he enjoyed the benefits of having a lake filled with catfish all to himself.

Soo…. did you eat the fish Phil caught?

Looks like a lovely place to camp – so much to do and beautiful too.

    Thanks for sharing,
