“A new command I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” The babies were excited when they heard Daddy speak this verse while explaining what Maundy Thursday meant. They had learned this verse way back in February and remembered.
Today these two kids helped me make Hot Cross Buns in preparation for Good Friday. And by “help” I mean they played with the extra flour and turned white as snow flour.
It will never cease to surprise me when I end up making something that comes close to what it’s supposed to be. Look how much like bread these buns look like! Yay!
Since I did little cooking this evening I took time to make up the table and set before my family a feast fit for Holy Thursday.
Taking the idea from HERE, each of our dishes tonight remind us of the events that lead to Christ’s death.
Alas, I did not attend services tonight, but did send 5 of the babies over to church with Phil for one of them. Phil was able to come home between the services for our feast then went back. After our supper we took our dessert outside to enjoy the pleasant weather, some minty peach tea and fig cookies.
They didn’t drink much of the tea but they all wanted to try it, which I was proud of. I had a lovely time sipping mine, but soon there were tired babies, fussing and tears. It was nice while it lasted though.
