January 6th we celebrated the Feast of Epiphany. We had planned to have 5 other families over to feast and celebrate with us but decided we were not ready for company and revelry so we cancelled this year and kept the festivities as a family.
Our “Christmas Tea” became an “Epiphany Tea” this year. I pulled out all the cookies and candy we were still working our way through and warmed up Apple Cider.
The kids helped me with our King’s Cake. I stuck with this Rum Cake recipe I cook every year because I just love it so much!
The cake was filled with the trinkets I like to add; a Button, a Coin, a Thimble, the Baby, a Ring, a Guitar Pick, a Shell and a Jewel. A little something for everyone.
And our feast this year was a meal a church member provided for us. Chicken Noodle soup, mashed potatoes and lots of raw veggies.
We have been so blessed through this entire time after losing Ebenezer with help from the members of our church. All week they brought meals to us and sent cards, coffee or took kids to play.
Phil found the baby Jesus!
The King for the night, fishing in the kitchen.
“O Savior of our Fallen Race,
O Brightness of the Father’s face,
O Son who shared the Father’s might,
Before the world knew day or night
O Jesus very light of light,
Our constant Star in sins deep night,
Now hear the prayers your people pray,
Throughout the world this holy day.”
Blessed Epiphany!
Indeed a blessing to have such support. Looks like a tasty Epiphany feast.
