Oh what fun it is to celebrate “Christmas in Germany!” Sunday afternoon the babies danced at the German Society in the Christmas festival. Once again I was so proud of them. They learned several new dances in a pretty short time.

I was really excited when they came home from practice one night telling me that they were dancing to “that song I liked with the bells, “Kling Schlockting!'” Kling Glöckchen was one of my favorite Christmas songs when I was little. They were so cute with dancing with the glöckchen.

After they danced we had some time to wait until the afternoon activities for the children began. A puppet show and a visit from St. Nicholas. We spent that time eating cake and dancing the polka.

It’s always fun to spend time with our friends (and members of our church) at the Society. They were kind enough to share their table with us and help entertain these hooligans.

What went down with St. Nicholas:

Nick: Oh are you Heimat Tänzers?!
Babies: Nodding heads.
Nick: Are you all brother and sisters or friends?
Babies: Stare and say nothing.
Nick to Gerhardt: Are these all your sisters?
Gerhardt: Shakes head ‘no.’ (Because after all, these are not all his sisters.)
Lily trying to clarify the matter: He has six.
Nick: Oh he’s six! And you must be eight?

Sigh. Oh well, I guess St. Nick can only know when you’re awake and if you’ve been bad or good. Ain’t enough room in that brain for it all.

Telling St. Nicholas what they want for Christmas. Me trying to overhear so’s not to have devastated kinder on Christmas morning. Mama must manage expectations right?

And there was this. I don’t even know.
But I’ll leave you with something cuter…..

Gerhardt needs to loosen up; he’s always so serious.

This translation is horrible, but so what: Ich liebe der kinder.

It’s so much fun watching them all over again! 🙂
