The babies went shopping to use some of their Christmas money. Dart guns, art kits, a digital watch, a Doc Mc”Muffins” medical bag and Mercy got some stuff but it was all over the house before I could see. I think there were some bath crayons. Oh and Esther also bought a jar of honey and a bottle of wine. I’m hoping the wine was for me!
Shopping wore Ephraim out.
Favorite event of the day: Mercy pulled the Christmas tree over. That was an exciting and watery first for us.
Today was the Feast of St. Stephen. We watched a DVD that came with a book I got a few years ago, Good King Wenceslas with Jane Seymour and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It was quite good and I think we may have a new St. Stephan’s day family tradition.
I also made a mincemeat pie. I’ve never had mincemeat but a friend from church gave me a jar of it so I thought I might as well make a pie!
Mincemeat pie was always a tradition at our house when I was growing up. It is still a favorite of your Uncle John. Warm memories!
The smiles say it all. It is fun to go shopping. And work? The mince pie was there at my grandma’s house too.
What is mincemeat? I’ve heard of it but don’t really know anything about it. Can you describe its consistency and flavor????
I guess mincemeat is mostly chopped dried fruit with spices, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg? I think traditionally it has meat in it which sounds icky but the jar I had didn’t. It tastes/feels like gooey Christmas. 😀
