Our Reformation Sunday Celebration

Last Sunday we celebrated the Reformation. I gave the babies 2 new books this year which was fun since Lily loves to read and can begin to understand more.

Our Wittenberg church door and the hammer…which Gerhardt loved and carried in his pocket to church.

I also treated myself to a Luther Rose cookie stamp this year. I loved how it looked on the raw dough. The instructions stated that you aren’t to use dough that rises, so there went my original plan for gingerbread cookies which I’d already mixed up before hand. Boo.

It came with several recipes, this one for Almond Butter cookies.

I knew the babies wouldn’t eat these, but figured I’d enjoy them with some coffee and wanted to do these things right. Well, I should have just done the gingerbread cookies.

I’m not a great cookie cook, mine tend to fall flat at some point. But here is how they turned out, the design ended up disappearing a bit after baking. Disappointing, but you could still make it out. I tried “painting” the rose with icing. That was fun but time consuming so I just made one….for ME!

Sunday afternoon our Sunday School classes held a “Marty Party” out on a farm! Martin and Katie made guest appearances to test the children and make sure none of them were Catholics. Just kidding. Settle down.

We got a hay ride.

And a cook out, caramel apples and some crafts.

A fun day.

  1. Oh what fun! I’ll have to remember Martin and Katy putting on an appearance next year – they didn’t show up at our church’s Reformation celebration. We did have chili and beer though.

Where did you get that cookie press? I think we need one of those at our house (they work great with pressed peanut butter cookies too – the kind that end up with the crossed fork marks on the top).

    Happy Reformation!

Where did you get your cookie stamp? Love it. And kudos to you for painting even ONE cookie. I never would have made it even that far.

Sorry forgot to include stamp info! I’ll add that now!
