Living Seasonally
Our ‘summer’ is finally beginning to feel like summer. Cooler this spring and now we’ve started hitting the 80s and 90s. So we’ll break out the popsicles and “swimming pool.”
And the shorts. It cracks me up to see babies in real clothes.
Giving Thanks
1. For birthdays for Clara and 36 years of Phil which was celebrated with 36 candles and a lot more chocolate chips.
2. For my 8th summer with Phil.
3. For not having to pack school lunches everyday!
4. For Father Phil whom we love so much we gave him a jar of peanut M&Ms for Father’s Day and let him eat almost all of them by himself!

I love it.
Establishing Rhythm
For summertime I’m surprised how well we’ve managed to kind of stick to the schedule I loosely made a few weeks ago. I really would like to get an earlier start to our day getting myself up earlier in the morning but with unpredictable nights up with Martha I’m lucky to have breakfast on the table by 8am. And that was the craziest sentence.
Nurturing Hearts
It seems to be more difficult to keep the commemorations and feasts of the Church Year during this season of life. It’s more bare bones of life right now at our house. But I try to highlight certain days as best as I can, even if it’s so simply no one really noticed.
For the commemoration of St. Boniface of Mainz (missionary to Germany) we had German shortbread cookies. For Pentecost we wore red and Trinity was white. See? Simple.
Nurturing Minds
Phil and I have had a lot of conversations about our childrens’ education over the few years that they’ve been around. While I dream about Classical Education and even certain aspects of homeschooling, these are not realities for us right now. We have been very satisfied with the education they have been getting at our public community school but I still itch to have some Classics sprinkled in there.
So I’m taking advantage of the Summer months to pretend we homeschool. We’ve started with Ancient History and Literature, beginning in Egypt. Two or three times a week we have a lesson. The girls love it. I plan to try to continue lessons into the school year perhaps on Saturdays.

You are doing a great job of being wife and mama to your family! So proud of you for receiving your vocations with grace and style.
Keep reading to and with your babies. Those make sweet memories.
Love your all your pictures. Your food ones gave me some new ideas. I never think to eat outside unless we are having company but that would be a good summertime thing to do every once in a while.
Looks like a great summer so far!
I think y’all need a new pool!
