Today we celebrate the Transfiguration.
I came across this idea last week and thought it would be a great way to teach the babies about this event. Lily wasn’t feeling well so Clara helped me cut out our pictures, make Mt. Tabor and Jesus’s “face” shining like the sun.
Also, peg dolls are harder to paint than you think!
Here we have John, James and Peter….don’t look too closely. An artist I am not. Thankfully children are easily impressed.
Also the cloud with God’s words and Moses and Elijah.
A word from Martin Luther for today:
“Be on your guard against ideas that disregard the Word and separate and tear Christ from God. For he did not bid you soar to heaven on your own to gape to see what God is doing with the angels. No, this is his command: “This is my Son, The Beloved; listen to him. There I descend to you on earth, so that you can see, hear and touch me. There and nowhere else is the place for those to encounter and find me who desire me and who would like to be delivered from their sin and be saved.”
And this from one of my favorite hymns sung for the Transfiguration:
“‘Tis good, Lord, to be here.
Yet we may not remain;
But since Thou bidst us leave the mount,
Come with us to the plain.”
I think you did a great job on the peg people! I just don’t know how you ever found the time to do it! 🙂
Aubri, these are so cute 🙂 Way to go on the paining! Also, I had to tell you, I was reading some of your old posts, and the “mama’s losing it” ones made me crack up laughing. I am laughing even as I write this.
Thanks Grandmere! It was fun and it only got done with a Mercy sleeping on my lap and an Esther banging on one of my arms, not the best way to paint little people!
Rebekah we all need a healthy dose of our own special crazy, I get lots of them! I’m happy to share those moments with you all so y’all don’t start thinking I’m more sane than I really am. 🙂
