Today we made some final preparations for Christmas. I don’t do much decorating for Christmas until right before, I finally got around to hanging our stockings. Each year I wonder at how many hang there. We are blessed. And I might even add names to the last two one of these days.
Clara brought home “Reindeer Food” that she’d made at school. It’s been sitting in a baggie on our porch for a week.
Since we don’t push Santa or his reindeer at our house I thought it would be a fun to make “Donkey Food” to feed Mary and Joseph’s donkey on their journey. I’m sure he got hungry too. So we made some of that today.
Ingredients, what all donkey’s love – Oats, Rice Crispies, Cheerios and….Starlight (glitter for a special touch).
I was just going to leave it in the sack, but Clara dumped it on the porch, hope he likes it!
We lit our Advent wreath one last time and sang O Come O Come Emmanuel.
Then it was time for our church Christmas Program.
Gerhardt informed us that he would NOT be singing and would even be sitting with me, not with the kids.
And he was right. He did NOT sing, but he did sit with his Sunday School teacher. Yay!
Look at my little angels!
Before bed we put the manger under our tree and added hay for the coming baby Jesus.
I wrapped Him in a pretty box for the babies to open in the morning.
All ready for the manger!
And lovely tres faux candles for the window, lights for Mary and Joseph, to help them find their way to Bethlehem. Or really just because we’re too lazy to actually put any lights outside the house.
We are excited to celebrate our Lord’s birth tomorrow!
Here’s to a “Silent Night”! I’m exhausted.
Here it is, the feast of St. John, and we’re still slowly putting decorations up (one more box left). Merry Christmas, Aubri!
We’re still Christmas decorating here too Katy! We’ll probably finish just in time for Epiphany!
