Remember when I told you how confused Fall has been? We had snow this past Sunday. It started as we crossed the parking lot to go to church. The babies were hooping and excited but I told them to pipe down cuz it wasn’t going to stick. It wouldn’t be something they could get out and play in. I was very very wrong.

Fall At The Parsonage

It’s finally Fall and I still feel as if I have not put enough of it into our home or gotten to get out in it. It’s been strange weather for us. Much colder and so so rainy for this time of year. I love me some rainy cool weather but I kinda wanna say “enough already!” The leaves are slowly starting to turn but it’s been so lush and green. If it weren’t for the 40 degree days you’d think we were still in Summer.
Anyway, Fall is here but it’s felt like a slow trickle of Fall and actually maybe we just skipped it and went into a Southern “Winter.” But I’ve been relishing it as I can, here and there.

Fall Embertide – 2018

Four times a year a few days are set aside for fasting and prayer and marking the changing of seasons. These are called “Ember days.” For me the Fall or Autumn Ember days are the best and the ones I really only mark in anyway. I’m always so eager for Fall.
These Fall Ember days come the Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday after Holy Cross day. Per our tradition I take the babies that are home outside on one of these days to look for signs in creation that the seasons are changing. We call this our Ember Walk.
