The blessed relief of Fall is finally here! Y’all know how much I love me some Fall. The heat of Summer is gone for good…I think. We have our cool mornings and evenings back. The jackets are out, I’m digging out pants and long sleeved shirts, gathering the flipflops to soon be put away and adding all the glorious colors of Autumn to the house.

I welcome you into our home for a look at our days lately. There are seasons of life that make you feel as though you’ll never get back on your feet. This is mine.

I live minute to minute and so much can happen in a minute. I stand in the rushing current trying to find my footing and all around me…the deluge of life.

Not much is getting done. When I thought I had mastered the life skill of “not much getting done” it gets taken to a new level. I’m bristling under this new way of things and trying to figure out just what it is that’s making the days so much longer on stuff to get done and shorter on time to do it all.

It couldn’t be that I suddenly have 8 children and one of them is dear little Mercy could it? Hmm.

Living Seasonally

Once again, the season of summer is coming to a close. I’m not sure I accomplished any of the small goals I had for this summer but that’s ok. We made a lot of good memories over the past couple months and enjoyed so much of what Summer brings. Except I don’t think there was nearly enough watermelon.

It’s back to school next week and I’m eager for the return of our routines and schedules. It’s time the babies are occupied with more than just free play and tormenting one another.

The girls are gone to visit friends for a few days, then the boys will be gone. We’re squeezing what we can out of the final days of unscheduled daylight.

We’ve been back from our 2 week trip to Texas for a week now. (Pictures to come soon.) It’s been a long week. Even though this sweet little bug is a few days shy of 2 months old, I’m just now getting my feet wet being a mother of 8.

3 of the babies left for Texas the week Josephine was born. We’ve only had 5 under our roof for some time now and 3 more does make a difference! Though, you could say Mercy makes 3 just by herself.

I looked at my table the other day during breakfast and thought “Man. That’s a lot of people.”

We have all our babies safely back in the next with us. I am thankful. Now if I could just manage to keep up with all of them!
