I’m so thankful that we have made it to this point. Officially we have only a bit over 5 weeks left before we will meet this baby. I’m looking forward to and praying that day is a happy meeting.

Not knowing if we will be given more babies I wanted to enjoy this pregnancy as best I could. Even that long and emotional first trimester. I didn’t know what to expect this time, being over 40. Everything you read leads one to believe the worst about being pregnant in this decade of life. So I’m amazed that up until now this has actually been one of my very easiest pregnancies. And I’m in awe of just how healthy our baby boy is.

Finally one more update here. We rejoice in God’s gift of life! He has honored me with the privilege of once again carrying a child. Today I am 23 weeks along with our new SON! It’s a miracle to me to experience this blessing another time. One I have met with joy and fear since the moment we knew. So far everything has gone very well, all healthy and growing just as he should.

We look forward to early February to finally meet this baby face to face.

The Culture of Life

It’s really too much for my tired pulled in 200 directions brain to sit down and type out right now, but as I listened to a podcast the other day I heard this: “There is nothing “efficient” about a culture of life.” The speaker, Jennifer Fulwiler ,was talking about going on a book tour with her SIX children and the challenges this brings with it. How just organizing with her publishers the complicated logistics of purchasing plane tickets for her family was hard enough.

She said our culture is just not geared toward big families. How true that is. She meant that a Culture of Life will not be neat and tidy and organized like the fast paced streamlined American culture thrusts into your face as what successful life should look like. Everything moving, quick, productive and efficient. All business.

Let It Be To Me

It started with the counter top. It was something I hadn’t done in 9 years of our marriage. I started to put away some of the baby bottles. I left some of the bigger ones out for Josephine. I also weeded out the sippy cups, we only need a few now. The corner that for 9 years has been designated for bottles, bottle nipples, bottle brushes, sippy spouts and lids was suddenly just one box of an assortment of plastic items.

I look around at all the other baby things I’ve started to put away. The bouncers, the new Pac N Play, the tiny socks. All the things no baby needs right now.

There was a time in my life several years ago when I was so ready to clear the counter top. So tired of sorting and putting away tiny little socks. And really over stumping my toe on the dang bouncer! I looked forward to that day. I think mostly because I didn’t think it would come so soon.
