For a few months I knew I wanted to throw Lily a Harry Potter 10th birthday party. Because we would be in Austin at my mom’s house a couple weeks before her birthday I thought it would be fun to rope her into the planning and partying. She and my nieces once again (remember her Lemony Snicket party last year?) went out of their ways to pull this off.

While we were in Texas Lily turned 10! TEN! We’re in the double digits now folks. And because whenever we’re in Texas for a birthday there are usually two parties. This one was her actual date of birth birthday, July 28th when we were at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

On May 19th it seems like a million things were going on. One of those was the big girls Spring piano recital.

On May 2nd was Lily’s Strings concert. At our elementary school once you’re in the 4th grade you can choose to participate in “Strings” and decide which stringed instrument you will begin to learn. Lily chose violin this year. This is the 4th and 5th grade strings classes performing for parents of course but also for 1-3rd graders at the school. This is a way to encourage those kiddos who might be interested in learning once they are older.
