Going to the Zoo

A 20 minute drive takes us to the zoo these days. Much better than the hour and a half that it used to take.We haven’t been in a few years so Saturday we stuffed ourselves in the van and headed that way.

For about the same cost of one visit for all of us we bought a family membership. Now we can mozie on in whenever we want and hang out with the locals for a while.

But if you ask me we really shouldn’t have to pay at all since it seems our baby train and crazy amount of kids are attractions all their own. I always get a chuckle out of how many people stop to point or look our way.

I like to walk behind Phil, where no one knows we’re actually together. I get to hear the comments they waited to make after he passed by. Thankfully they’re typically not rude comments, just more in line with what you’d hear folks say while watching a 3 headed goat juggle knives.

Phil had a few days left of his vacation time so we’ve finally gotten a chance to enjoy some of the perks of summertime. There are so many great parks here in Omaha. Saturday we went to one of the many spraygrounds around. The babies had a blast on the splash pad.

Last week we had our first day at the Lake for this summer. Phil and the big 4 stayed for a slumber party with the tent while I took the babies and ran for my life. But supper was fun and the weather was absolute perfection!

Finally after being cancelled and rescheduled twice for bad weather, our elementary classes had their day on the field. Track and Field Day is a big deal in our town. Not something I was accustomed to growing up. Our school spent the afternoon doing our events, went back to class, then went home. Here all the parents, grands, aunts, uncles come filling the field and bleachers. I would not have survived it if we had done the same…all those people watching! Yikes.
