Phil: What is “Zoll?”
Me: That does not say “Zoll” Phil!

I got the great idea to make a 2011 turtle like the one here to take to a New Years Eve party last night. Seemed easy enough…well, let’s just say I learned that carmel is NOT your friend.

“Here’s to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.” – Author Unknown

We bid farewell to 2010 last night. It’s been a year of blessings and challenges. Many cherished memories and some we’d rather forget. Like the worst January of my life and an emergency room visit for Phil after a beer bottle exploded in his hand! Here are some of the memories we hope to hold.

The Season of Christmas

Monday, December 27th, 2010

After church Sunday I had to get Gerhardt in one of his new sweaters and matching hat. How could I have kept these photos to myself?!

Can’t you already see the six year old Gerhardt on school picture day?! Sigh.

Our Advent “Wreath”

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

I had to clean and redecorate our advent wreath this morning since the greenery was beginning to shed and look pitifully like switches. While it was in its naked state I wanted to take the opportunity to show you all the base that was designed and handmade by Phil. I looked everywhere for another advent wreath this year and was about to put down $30 for one I found online when he said he could probably make one for us.

He wasn’t able to make a circle so I wasn’t sure how I would make it look like the “wreath” I had in mind. I also didn’t have the materials to shape my greenery so I just placed it around the candles.

Here it is finished (with original greenery). I think it turned out nicely and am very proud of Phil for making this for us. Thanks Pookie!
