December 13th was the childrens’ Christmas program at the German American Society. If I haven’t clarified already, we are not German Americans. A very kind couple at our church gave us a year’s membership to the society and we have been enjoying as much of it as we can! Every Saturday Lily, Clara, Gerhardt and Esther have been taking German lessons.

Meet our “Elf on the Shelf.” Lily’s friend at school is doing this with her family and she reeeeally wanted us to as well. I’ve never looked into the Elf on the Shelf tradition so I don’t know what all is involved. But maybe I should.
Holding elves hostage is totally something I could get behind.

Saturday it was time to do Thanksgiving right! It was also the day our new friend Barb was coming over to visit. It was her birthday so we decided she would not only be our guest for Thanksgiving, but we would also throw her a surprise party.

Thanksgiving day brought some nasty weather our way. A little too much cold and ice for my liking so we decided not to get the babies out and drive the streets in our van to the home we’d been invited to. We stayed put but without a Thanksgiving meal prepared.
