We started “Valentine’s Day” on Friday this year with the girls having a party at school and bringing home lotsa candy. They were kind enough to share their undesirables.
And Saturday morning we had a Cinnamon Roll Heart for breakfast.

Fasching

Saturday was quite a big day for us. The German American Society we’re members of celebrated Fasching also known as Karneval or the German Mardi Gras.
“Fasching or Karnival celebrations stem from various beliefs and needs. For Catholics, it provided a festive season of food and fun before the Lenten fasting period would begin. During the late medieval times, plays were performed during the Lenten period called Fastnachtspiele.” source
The kiddos were asked to wear costumes to their German classes that morning. They were happy to oblige. Originally Gerhardt would be the only pirate but when I came home with a pack of eye patches more pirates joined his crew. Clara is the ship Leopard.

Drum roll please!
On the Twelfth day of Christmas….I don’t remember what we did. School began again so it was up and out the door for the girls. Lily excited as anything and Clara dragging her feet.
Christmas – Day Eleven

Oh my poor blog. Ok, days Eleven and Twelve of Christmas! On the Eleventh day of Christmas we went to the indoor ice rink for one last hurrah before school started back up.
The girls were slow at first but after some time out there they really started to get brave and find their balance. I think Phil was most impressed with himself though.
He caught some video footage of the girls and I’ll add that soon once Phil can do it because I have no idea how that happens anymore with a new blog and now having to use our phones for such.
