A Bundle of Myrrh

"My beloved is unto me as a bundle of myrrh." Song of Solomon 1:13

The 9th Month.

We’re finally getting closer to our next little one joining us on this side of the tummy. In a few weeks we’ll have two little girls. I really can’t wait to meet this new baby. I’m anxious to see how she’ll be different or similar to Lily and just anxious to get on with the way life will be so different for us. I’m a lot more tired and busy at this stage of pregnancy than I was the first time. I’ve got a cold, a lingering bladder infection and a very busy and heavy 9 month old this time too. I’ll admit, I’m ready to be on the other side of pregnancy. I’ve enjoyed this pregnancy a lot as I did the first. It’s really flown by and I can’t believe it’s almost over. Though I’m ready for to be, I feel a little sad to know that these are the last days that Lily will ever have as the “only” child. From now on she’ll only know what it’s like to have a sibling and to have to share Mama and Daddy. I’m not sure why this makes me sad. I know it may be hard for her for a while but she’ll be gaining a sister and playmate and hopefully one day a best friend. It will be good for her to learn to share us and everything else she now has all to herself and will never remember what life was like before sister. I think of how it will feel in a few years to see these two playing together and remember holding baby Lily on my tummy while sister kicked and squirmed inside. What a blessing to be given another child for me and Phil but also for Lily.

Phil turned 30 years OLD yesterday! Lily and I made him special cards and his favorite taco lunch.

Gifts from my mom arrived right before we headed down to Omaha to spend the day in the “Old Market” and have supper at the Upstream Brewery where Phil and I shared our first meal together in Nebraska two years ago, ahhh.

Omaha is proud of the new pedestrian suspension bridge they just opened. We had to check out this 22 million dollar addition to the city. It was a nice walk after we’d stuffed ourselves. We stopped to look over the edge at the mighty Missouri river that flows under it and realized we weren’t just walking across, we were bouncing. I thought of Mom and Sylvia and how much you gals would have LOVED that!

My mom tells me I didn’t crawl, I would scoot across the floor. I’m thinking I may have passed that down to Lily! She can cover about 3 feet now.

We finally got our garden in last week. We put in onions (some red ones this time!), lettuce, spinach, jalapenos, red and green peppers, cilantro, rosemary, strawberries, watermelon and of course sweet corn. The gentleman who loans us this garden space passed away a couple months ago and his son is letting us continue to use it this year which we’re grateful for, but unfortunately they’ve cut off the water from the house. Phil isn’t too worried about it but will have to think about how to get water over there. Maybe it will rain everyday this summer!
I won’t be much help in the garden this time I’m afraid, but I do have a few things growing here at the house, some herbs and a red trailing verbena.
