The Day Trip – France

July 15: No lectures at the Academy for us today. Instead the group left Strasbourg and toured Colmar, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr (yes all French.) Did you know the man who designed the Statue of Liberty was from Colmar France? And Riquewihr is the medieval town in the Alsace region of France that inspired the town from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. So much beautiful church art and architecture in these towns.

Eating In Strasbourg

July 14: We did a lot of eating in France, a lot of Alsatian cuisine, sausage, cabbage, pork, potatoes and white wines. A few evenings we met up with the group from the Academy. Most meals were eaten with Rose in my lap. She was happy to take care of any food I was dropping on her head.

Our Host

July 12: A little about our “host.” John Warwick Montgomery is the International Director of the International Academy we attended, but he is also an ordained minister in the LCMS and let’s add a few more interesting facts. He is “considered to be one of the foremost living apologists for classical, biblical Christianity. A renaissance scholar with a flair for controversy, he lives in France, England and the United States. Dr. Montgomery is the author or editor of more than fifty books in five languages. He holds ten earned degrees, including a Master of Philosophy in Law from the University of Essex, England, a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago a Doctorate of the University in Protestant Theology from the University of Strasbourg, France, and the higher doctorate in law (LL.D.) from the University of Cardiff, Wales. He is an ordained Lutheran clergyman, an English barrister, an avocet au Barreau de Paris, France, and is admitted to practice as a lawyer before the Supreme Court of the United States.” MmmKay?
