A Bundle of Myrrh

"My beloved is unto me as a bundle of myrrh." Song of Solomon 1:13

Good Reads.

I came across this paragraph in a novel I just read. I quite identified with the feelings this character had in these first few minutes and hours with a new baby!

At this point the baby began to cry, steadily, angrily; and Clare taking her in her arms for the first time, made two extraordinary discoveries. The first was that on contact with her mother the baby instantly stopped crying and the second was that she was indeed utterly, perfectly beautiful. With a flash of insight, Clare suddenly wished that they could all stay here forever, the baby safely cradled in her arms, protected by the hospital staff.
For with this new love came also a new and terrible vulnerability, from which there would never be an escape. How shall I endure chicken pox, and tree climbing and reading about children dying in fires? she thought. Life stretched away in an infinity of dangers and she felt afraid.

>Digging Out

Sunday Phil was finally able to get outside and start digging us out.

This drift was up to his shoulders!

We had to get out and play in all this snow a little bit so we started the 25 minute feat of bundling up.

Some of us look a lot cuter bundled up than others….

We FINALLY built a snowman! My 3rd winter here and it finally happened. We worked fast and furious though, it was cold if you couldn’t guess.

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

>December Daily: Day 25

Here’s Christmas day at our house. Clara seemed a little nervous about what to do on her first Christmas and what this huge lion was doing on the couch.

But after she saw all the ribbons and paper she really cut loose!

Lily’s second Christmas and she’s NOT a baby anymore! Remember last year…..

sigh…where’d that baby go?

The kiddies spent the morning opening and playing with their toys…

We hope you all had a happy and safe Christmas day and continue to celebrate the birth of our Savior through this Christmas season!
