A Warriors Birthday Party

August 9th, 2021 by Aubri

July 29: Lily is in love aka OBSESSED with the novel series “Warriors.” I don’t know a lot about these books other than what Lily has gushed forth and a little I looked up online but the gist is feral cats organized into clans surviving and occasionally warring with one another….I think. Lily would be horrified by that summary I’m sure but….

Anyway, last year I wanted to throw a Warriors themed party for her but with The 2020ness and not knowing where to begin with any plans I opted not to. This year I happened to come across a blog post on a Warriors party and got pretty excited about how simple it seemed. With a little Googling and that site I went for it. I had everything planned before Phil and I left for Houston back in June and kept Lily in the dark the entire time. Grandma took her out of the house for a few hours before the party while I decorated with the help of my SIL. I wanted everything to be a surprise for her. I think it was hit.

Another “score!” was this printable banner I found on Etsy.

Thirteen Years Old

August 9th, 2021 by Aubri

July 28: My first baby turns 13 today! How have 13 years gone by just like that? She’s become such a lovely young lady.

Our Texas cousin and my SIL were able to be here for the week and celebrate with us. Happy Birthday Lily!

Iowa

August 9th, 2021 by Aubri

June 10: We take a quick trip to Fredricksburg, Iowa to attend the 25th pastoral anniversary of Phil’s Vicarage Supervisor, Rev. Koch. Phil wanted to be there to commemorate this and to preach the sermon for the service. It was great to catch up with friends we had not seen for 6 years.

While there the kids were treated to a tour of a Buffalo Ranch.

28 Weeks

July 22nd, 2021 by Aubri

28 weeks. Welcome to the jungle, I mean the 3rd Trimester. Martha said she’s “popping a baby out” like me. Misery does love company, thanks Martha! 😄

I finally feel like I have a better picture of what we need to have ready for our baby’s birth and what can wait and finally we have an idea of the plan we need to put together for the week she’ll arrive. If she stays put, it looks like we’ll actually plan to let her get closer to her due date than I originally expected which puts us into October. All that feels really good. Now we wrap up the Summer activities, the travel and visitors and prep for school to begin in a few weeks. Then I can turn my attention to nursery prep and all the fun stuff that comes with getting ready for a baby. It helps immensely that I’m already exhausted and am sure I’m walking through quicksand all day long. 👍
