A Bundle of Myrrh

Here We Grow Again!

April 5th, 2011 by Aubri

The Lord has given us another baby! I’m now at 17 weeks and finally in my second trimester, and I’m pretty sure everyone already knows except THIS blog. We’ll become a family of SIX (!) in the Fall, baby #4 is scheduled to debut in September. 9/11 is the “due date” but at someone’s suggestion I’m shooting for delivering on 9/10/11. Much better and a much cooler birth date.

Phil and I went to our first pre-natal appointment a few weeks ago and were able to hear our new little one’s heartbeat. That is one of the greatest sounds in the world. And as familiar of a sound as it has become to us now, it never gets old. Especially not that first time you hear it, during those early weeks when I worry and wonder and want to know that all is well.

And all is well except for the usual joys of pregnancy; fatigue, forgetfulness, constant headaches, wanting to eat all the time, none of my clothes fitting (yes, even the maternity ones) oh and fatigue, that’s worth mentioning again.

We’re hoping to have an ultrasound at our next check-up in a few weeks and perhaps find out whether this is another boy or girl. We’ll let you know blog, don’t worry.

Seven Months Old

April 4th, 2011 by Aubri

This little fella is proving to be “all boy” already. He gets himself around really well now on his tummy (mostly just going backwards still) and in the walker. And is beginning to open cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. He tried to hoist himself up out of his walker into a towel drawer the other day. I can tell he’s gonna be a bigger handful than even Clara!

Is that not the look of a trouble maker?!

Or a sweetheart? Okay, both.

We’ve gotten him back to sleeping through the night at least. We moved him back into Phil’s office at night and that has done the trick. We think the house may have made too many noises he could hear in the living room. Plus with him that close to the girls room I tend to jump up to get him at the first cries so he doesn’t wake them up. Not good.

It’s hard to believe that just 6 months ago he was this gangly little thing!

My Poor Hands

April 3rd, 2011 by Aubri

I’ve inherited my mama’s delicate skin. We both suffer from The Splits. It’s because we were once royalty and just weren’t made to work with our hands….

The tips of my fingers and knuckles are in a constant state of split open. It’s very painful and debilitating really. I’ve tried a lot of different things to try to keep this from happening but when your hands are in as much water as mine are throughout the day, keeping them from drying out and cracking is not easy. So, at Phil’s suggestion, I’ve resorted to these for dishwashing….

And by doing so become my Grandma Sissy. How can I see yellow rubber gloves on the sink and think of anyone else?

I can’t tell if they’re working since I just started using them, but wow! Yellow rubber gloves where have you been all my life? Oh yeah, draped on Grandma’s sink….

The Things They Say

April 1st, 2011 by Aubri

I love that Lily has gotten so good at talking; to us, to herself, to anyone who will listen, all the time…really, non-stop. The things we hear around our house can be pretty funny. I don’t always remember them, so I thought I’d better write a couple down before I forget those too!

“Crap Cara, Crap!” (Clap, Clara, Clap!)

“And one for the little boy who lives down the drain.” (And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.)

“Row row row your boat gently down the street, mary, mary, mary, mary row your boat down the street.”
