Next time you’re in South Dakota you really should check out Sioux Falls. Phil and I spent 3 days there last week, a little hiatus from our day to day, to do absolutely nothing or a whole lot of relaxing and we did both very well.
Learning In The Home

Lord Jesus Christ, the children’s friend,
To each of them Your presence send;
Call them by name and keep them true
In loving faith, dear Lord, to You.
I explained in another post that Phil and I don’t plan on homeschooling our kids, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be leaving all of their education in the hands of their public school teachers. We feel that we have much to teach them at home and in many ways can do more than their school teachers are able to do. I thought this post from Simple Mom had a lot of good things to say about educating your publicly schooled children at home. We plan on doing something similar as our children age.

32 Weeks

I can hardly believe that I’m nearing the end of this pregnancy and, God willing, in a little over 7 weeks I’ll be holding our newest little sugar. This time we decided not to learn the gender so we’re anxious to hear our doctor’s announcement on that big day of “Girl” or “Boy” won’t that be fun?…the announcement, not so much all that other stuff that comes before.
As with my other babies, this has been a very uneventful pregnancy, which is a blessing. Of course there has been much unpleasantness and many pains, but thankfully nothing abnormal or alarming. Though I will say I can tell that all the “normal” things that happen get much more pronounced with each pregnancy. Those things that were minor aches with the first couple are enough to lay me out this time around.
My biggest grief until now has been the frequent and lingering dizzy spells and an inability to breath deeply which began early on with this baby making the smallest tasks..uh like chopping an onion, feel like I’ve just run around the block in 100 degree heat (not that I’ve ever even done that, but I imagine it must feel something like this, okay, it probably would feel worse, bear with me). I consider getting to the kitchen in the morning and pouring a cup of coffee without being dizzy, winded and exhausted as a great start to the day.
Now in my 8th month comes the best part. Nothing is comfortable, every muscle hurts, my tummy feels stretched to popping, every step shoots pain through my pelvis, my lower back is begging for a break, my feet want a one way ticket to anywhere but here and I’ve become a giant waddling ball of human whiney-ness.
And with all that said I must add that even with all the difficulty I’m still humbled and amazed by God’s goodness and work. I’m still in awe of the fact that there is a new person being made within me and soon he or she will be out here, a new part of our family seamlessly woven right in like they had been here the whole time.
Happy Birthday Gerhardt!
