Esther’s assignment in class this week was to create a “13th Labor” for Heracles. Climb Mount Olympus and insult Zeus was what she came up with. What act of heroism. Pegasus, “Oh snap!”
I considered several jokes when I saw this but they all bordered on blasphemy so I’ll just say…ain’t never dull around here and leave it at that.

December 2: Another procedure for little Rose today. Just an outpatient snip of her achilles tendons to lengthen them so she can eventually use her feet to stand upright. She really enjoyed having her casts off for a while, she was super chatty before they took her back.
She’ll have a new set of casts put on after the surgery and keep those for 3 weeks before she moves into wearing little boots. Considering all she’s been through already this is a very minor procedure, still it’s one more thing.

December 23, Advent’s last hurrah. The season of Christmas begins tomorrow. We still haven’t had a chance to decorate our tree, I haven’t wrapped a single present and Advent didn’t go at all as I’d planned or hoped, it never does. I’ve had to reevaluate many things this Advent, realize what I need to let go of and what I need to work harder at holding on to. It’s been a struggle. But here we are with a new season on us and the message I need to hear again, today’s Antiphon:
O Emmanuel, king and lawgiver,
desire of the nations, Savior of all people:
Come and set us free, Lord our God.
