Holy Saturday

May 20th, 2022 by Aubri

April 16: One of the books we like to read around Easter time is Easter Eggs for Anya. We usually talk about Pysanky eggs when we read the book but this year we focused on something different. Anya is a little girl in the Ukraine whose father is away at war. It was very fitting that this year as we had fun coloring our Easter eggs we remember to pray for the people and the Church in the Ukraine.

“We pray that their faith in Christ would endure. We also pray that God would provide for them as their gracious heavenly Father. And we pray that all find hope and strength in the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus, who talked about coming wars and calamities, died and rose from the dead to forgive sins and give eternal life to all who believe. Before He ascended, He promised His church, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). The church prays for peace in our world and for faith as we await His coming.

To support the people of Ukraine, please pray for them.” LCMS Reporter

Holy Week – Maundy Thursday

April 20th, 2022 by Aubri

April 14: Blessed Maundy Thursday. “With our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb. 10:22), we enter the holy place with Jesus. For Jesus is our Passover Lamb who has been sacrificed for us. He reclines at table with us and feeds us with His own flesh and blood. In Christ, the Lord remembers us in mercy and remembers our sin no more; He forgives us all our iniquity. As He washes us and feeds us in love, let us love one another, just as He has loved us (John 13:34).”

Our traditional Holy Thursday feast. We’ve enjoyed this themed meal for many years now a little bit of joy during this Holy week, our kids always love it. This year I made something new, a Torta Pasqualina or Easter Pie and wow it was good. Sadly I forgot to get a picture of our table and the lovely faces around it but here’s some of our dishes.
