July 15: No lectures at the Academy for us today. Instead the group left Strasbourg and toured Colmar, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr (yes all French.) Did you know the man who designed the Statue of Liberty was from Colmar France? And Riquewihr is the medieval town in the Alsace region of France that inspired the town from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. So much beautiful church art and architecture in these towns.
Notice the Stork nests. The Stork is the symbol of Alsace. The nest on high structures, it’s fun to spot those around the region.
