I can’t believe it’s already the 12th of December! I’ve been trying to savor everyday. So many days I feel like everything is getting away from me, there’s still so much I want to do this month; go look at Christmas lights, watch gobs of Christmas movies, finish making some gifts and PLEASE, MORE BAKING! It’s a relief to look at the calendar and realize it’s just the 8th, just the 9th, but oh no, now the 12th?!
A friend of ours gave us this Advent calendar the other day. She’d had it for us for a while so we’ve missed a couple weeks, but I love it! I’ll have to ask her where she got this.
There is a ‘mini-book’ for each day that tells a story starting with Creation and going through Christ’s birth. Much like a Jesse Tree. Some days are just a Christmas carol with some pictures.
Our church services were canceled yesterday due to weather (uh, but Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day, oops!) so we took some time to catch up on the days in the calendar that we missed. An extra morning with Daddy is always nice. It was fun reading the little books and singing some of the carols, unfortunately it didn’t last long before fits were being thrown. Who knew such little books could create such big problems!
The mini-books are meant to be hung on the tree after they’re read. The girls took turns handing them to daddy.
AND some other friends of ours brought a big jar of THIS by for us! Yum!
