A Bundle of Myrrh

"My beloved is unto me as a bundle of myrrh." Song of Solomon 1:13

Photographs

I have a problem. I take TONS of pictures. From the time I first got a camera I’ve taken TONS of pictures.  I never needed a special occasion to take them, I would take them at home by myself or hanging out with my friends somewhere we’d been a 100 times. And digital cameras feed my need to snap away. I don’t have the best memory and for me taking pictures was a way to keep moments, places or people from being forgotten.

Among the millions of pictures I’ve taken there are those that I love looking at. I’m sure you have those too. They make you smile or make you remember a time when things were so different. And sometimes there’s just one that you can’t believe you captured on “film”, one that you would be so sad to loose. For me it’s this one:

My favorite picture from 2007-Sept 2009 (that’s the last time I put a list of them together). Morgan and Walter laughing. I love this moment, this laugh. I don’t remember at all what was so funny, but it must have been good and I snapped my camera at just the right second.

So I thought I’d share my Top 15 Favorite Photos (well from 2007-Sept. 2009) with y’all. There in no particular order, well, yes they are, chronological, not by love.

This is me and Eugenie traipsing through Chicago in April of 2007. I didn’t take this photo, obviously, so no credit taken there. I like this one for several reasons; 1. We’re in Chicago! 2. we kind of look like rock stars 3. the faincy angle is fun (Weslie you probably took this one) and 4. we were in Chicago on our way to Ft. Wayne IN…and everyone knows what happened in Ft. Wayne IN!

This is Morgan the second I mentioned that I may have found a special someone *yes, that would have been Phil*. I still can’t believe I have this moment here and there’s probably no one in the world but me that would have remembered what this smile and the “Do Tell” look in her eyes was about.

Morgie and Eugenie in the fitting room of Anne Taylor trying on brown dresses looking for the perfect bridesmaid dresses for MY WEDDING! I did mention that I have a habit of taking pictures anywhere right? I think they were disagreeing about who looked more fabulous in it when we all know I would have.

Didn’t take this picture either, those are my hands with Eugenie’s so that would have been crazy. This was taken at Brenda’s baby shower. It was a beautiful occasion, a beautiful party and a beautiful girlfriend loving moment between me and Eug that someone took a picture of. I don’t even mind the band-aid on my finger.

This had to be in my top 15 for many obvious reasons! My Mama and me the bride.

Ah, newlyweds! I think I must have tried to fix the “red eye” so my eyes look a little wonky, but you can still see the bliss and pure love in them! Or it could have been the joy of getting out of the house for the first time in 3 months.

This is my brother and his family. They came to visit us just after Christmas, my first Christmas as a married woman, away from home in the frozen tundra of Nebraska. It was a hard time for me and was just what I needed. Again, I didn’t take this photo but it’s perfect. They were just about to fall backwards and make snow angels but I love seeing them all standing there holding hands and probably counting, “1, 2, 3!”

Another photo from that week my family came. Phil and his little buddy Elle (Sasquatch?). This one just makes me laugh.

Who can resist a tiny baby hand picture?! This hand belongs to Lily, taken during her first week with us. The best and worstish week of my life.

And here is Old Lady Lily. Another “classic” photo in our family. I laugh every time.

So so sweet. Lily reading Winnie the Pooh with Daddy and a few seconds later drifting off to sleep. I love that they’re “holding hands”! And she still loves reading books.

And finally this greatness! Scary Uncle Wes and Lily. She’d probably still do this is you held her Wes.

Okay, that’s enough. If you want to see my other 31 favorite photos from 2007-Sept 2009 click HERE.
