We found out last Friday that the baby we’re all waiting on is another GIRL!

Ideas for names are being submitted. So far the girls have their hearts set on the name Ginger Bread but perhaps Easter Bunny would be more appropriate.

I have been searching and searching and searching for that print to hang on our wall (don’t want to razor it out of a book). I remember though the last time I looked I was expecting, and didn’t know #5 would be a boy, so I guess it’s not so perfect, now. But it IS for you!

I always liked Hannelore, but I think Hanni (pronounced “honey”) Hale is as bad as Hanni Hopkins 🙂

  3. Nancy says:

Eleanor Lynn or Miranda (the name of our new kitty) Lynn. I suggested Wilhelmina Augusta for my granddaughter. It didn’t go over and she ended up being Allyson Micheala.

  4. Marie says:

Sophia Marie and call her Sophie…just my suggestion! Haha

  5. Another girl! What fun!

Hrmm, I’m not so good with name suggestions but I’m sure you’ll find the perfect name for your new blessing.

    Lea

I know you can’t control the gender, but thank you for continuing to have girls to make up for those of us like me that have gone 5 generations with no girls! I always laugh when I see “looking for girl name suggestions” as I have tons of girl names in mind but never got to use them. On the other hand if we were to have another boy, I’m out of names after only 3 first and middle names!
Are your older girls set for arranged marriages yet? My LCMS boys are ages 10, 8, and 6!

    What a great website idea…lcms arranged marriages dot com…I’ve got d7, s6, s4, d3, s10mo

Katy isn’t that a beautiful sketch? I love Tasha Tudor and after Mercy was born I couldn’t get over how perfect that picture was for us….for a while! And you know what? Lily actually suggested the name “Honey” a couple months ago! Ha!
Nancy I’ve always like Eleanor, in fact that is Mercy’s middle name! 🙂 I also like Ruth which we gave to Lily for middle. I’m wondering now what the “rules” are for reusing other kids’ middle names as first names for other babies?
Marie, I think my SIL has dibs on Sophie if she has a girl! 🙂
Lea, I suppose we will. Just the hunt is starting to get more difficult. But babies just need names right? Can’t be that hard!
Ewe, I’m happy to have the baby girls! Yes, my list for boy names is getting longer now and I’m wondering if I’ll ever get to use “Ebenezer.” I’m sure Phil wouldn’t mind if we don’t. 😛 And I would never poo poo arranged marriages! Katy get your husband on that project!

We just had a Hannah Rose born in our congregation.

Other ideas: Elizabeth Anne, Lydia, Priscilla, I like all forms of Madeline, Margaret, and Magdalena. Louisa/Louise seems to be a popular middle name these days. Forms of Ellen and Helen are pretty. I like Puritan-ish middle names, for virtues or fruits of the Spirit (Constance, Faith, Patience, etc.)

In my family tree, in the 18th century, when older siblings died, often subsequent children born were given the same name. I don’t think I would ever do that, but it’s interesting how some families seem to limit themselves to like 8 names. One family would have a Sarah Catherine, a Catherine Sarah, and John William, and a William John.

  10. Nancy says:

I’m pretty sure using the middle name of one child for the first name of another isn’t a good idea. I was given the middle name of an older sister who died when just a few days old. That seems okay. I’m just grateful I don’t have to name a child again. It was hard enough picking out a name for the new kitten.

  11. My Dad’s middle name was given to the 7th of his younger brothers as a first name. And the youngest of those 8 brothers was named Fredrick Jr. When everyone asked why the youngest was Fredrick Jr. and not the oldest, my Grandmother honestly answered “We ran out of boys names that we liked!”

No one has ever commented on my uncle’s name in relation to my dad because my dad doesn’t use anything but his middle initial regularly.

    🙂
    Lea

Thanks for all the thoughts on this. I might have to make a “Baby Name” post!
