Cinco de Mayo

Yes, Cinco de Mayo was about a year ago I know but I loved these photos so I had to make a post about our fiesta-ing. And I’m purging old post drafts. O!

A few years ago our neighbors brought beautiful dresses back from Mexico for our baby girls. They were big then but I put them on them anyway, cranked up the Jarabe Tapatío and let them Hat Dance their little hearts out. They loved it and since I love Mexican food it only seemed reasonable that we make celebrating May 5th a tradition at our house.

The dresses that were once so big on our girls are getting smaller and being handed down. But we still love to pretend to be Mexican and drink margaritas.

The girls dressed up for school.

Clara insisted on all the flowers. I was very happy to oblige! So pretty.

(I know, the fan is a bit more Spain than Mex….s’okay.)

A big favorite for the day, Churros.  Yum.

Texas, you’re too hot for us to actually live in again, but we still think of you often with fondness, mostly.

Thank you for giving us Tex-Mex, the Alamo and for being so close to Mexico without whom we wouldn’t have Cinco de Mayo.

Muchos Besos!

With the hat, Gehardt makes a great Carlos Santana.

Help me, I’m melting over such adorable cuteness. Oh, that Mercy!!!!

  2. I LOVE all the flowers in the hair! So beautiful! And Mercy’s hair – WOW! Having had completely bald babies, I’m completely in awe. Thanks for sharing!

Do you have a recipe for churros? Or did I miss a link?

Ha Kristi! Now all he needs is a jheri curl…or is that a perm?

Lea, the hair. It’s like that 70s show up in here but sometimes a bow/clip finds it’s way to that cute little head and I love it! Yes, there’s a link let me know if it didn’t work for you. You can dip these in chocolate too if you want. Double yum!

  4. Thanks Aubri!

I totally missed the link – I’ll chalk it up to hosting a birthday party for 10 9-year-olds (my daughter’s 9th bday party) for two hours that afternoon. I was totally pooped!

Looks delicious – thanks for sharing! I may have to try these just for fun!
